Who needs a Covid-19 testing?

Due to the recent sanitary restrictions to enter the US, most travelers are worried about their planned trips. According to CDC mandatory negative Covid-19 test must be shown before board the return flight to the United States.

The State Health Services of Quintana Roo began the application of rapid tests for Covid-19 at the Cancun International Airport. There are Cancun Airport Covid-19 testing mobiles units  located at departure terminals 2, 3 and 4 for passengers requiring a rapid Covid-19 airport testing. Below is the list of the main important instructions about the Cancun Airport Covid-19 testing units:

  1. Open everyday from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  2. First come – First Serve. No appointments available
  3. It takes approximately 30-60 minutes for the antigen results
  4. It take approximately 24-48 hours for the PCR Test
  5. The test costs approximately $290.00 pesos per antigen test
  6. The PCR test costs approximately $2000.00 pesos 
  7. Opening Hours, Locations, Availability, and Price may change without notice
  8. There is NO contact information available. These are mobile units. If you had a test done, look at the papers/results you received in your email for information regarding your test.

To avoid surprise, we recommend to arrive at the Cancun Airport with your test results. Many major hotels in Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Tulum are offering Covid-19 Testing services to their guests for free or special fee, please contact your hotel for information and details. Here are hotels offering covid 19 tests:

Best Day

Best Day Travel Group announced that through its BD Experience business line, they will facilitate PCR tests to their clients who require it.


From January 26, guests staying at AMresorts hotels will be able to schedule a free antigen test. Dreams, Secrets y Zoetry are part of AMResorts group.

Royal Resort hotels

Royal Resorts will make tests available onsite, through certified independent laboratories.  It is important to note that free testing is exclusively for Royal Resorts members and guests, is one-time only and available to those who have no symptoms.  Results are available in 24 hours. 

Melia Hotels

Meliá Hotels has announced 10 of their hotels in Mexico will offer free COVID-19 antigen testing on-site for all guests who are required to present documented results before entering their country of residence. Participating hotels in Quintana Roo are  Paradisus Playa Del Carmen, Paradisus Cancún, Meliá Cozumel.

Karisma Hotels & Resorts

Karisma Hotels & Resorts will offer FREE on-site COVID-19 tests as well as a FREE 14-day quarantine should you test positive. The cost might vary according to your resort, you can find prices from 15 USD per antigen test. And you will also find tests available in these places
